Matemwe Lodge is perched on a coral rock next to a white sand beach on the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar. It is facing the Mnemba Atoll, which boasts first rate snorkelling and diving, and is set in lush tropical gardens. Fleets of traditional wooden ngalawa fishing boats pass the resort each day, and their fishermen stop buy to provide the hotel’s restaurant with fresh lobster, crab and fish. The beachfront restaurant is a romantic spot to watch the sun set and the moon rise. Accommodation is in spacious thatched bungalows, all with sea view verandahs, and the resort also has a multi-level pool.
