Africa’s largest protected game reserve, Selous is a vast park of more than 21,000 square miles. Over twice the size of Wales it comprises five per cent of Tanzania’s total area, and can only be accessed by light aircraft. This little-visited region is home to abundant hippos, crocodiles, elephant and wild dog and the whole park has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
