Sarara is a unique Camp found within the unspoilt 75,000 Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust. Built on the side of a hill the camp offers superb views over the Conservancy and enjoys regular visits from a family of elephants.
Hosted by Piers and Hilary Bastard together with their dedicated and friendly team, the camp offers excellent service, wonderful home cooked dining experience and fantastic game viewing and activities.

Access and Distance

  • By schedule flights to Nanyuki or Samburu departing daily from Wilson Airport and connecting air transfer to Sarara. Sarara can be easily combined with a safari in Ol Pejata & Samburu

Accommodation

  • 5 double tents, each with flush-loos and open air showers & bathroom
  • Gas lamps provide lighting in each tent and a 12V battery is available to re-charge camera batteries on request

  • Fly camping safaris with camels along the wide sand ‘luggas’
  • Visit to the famous ‘Sarara Singing Wells’. Samburu warriors bring their cattle to these watering holes on a daily basis during the dry season. Some of the wells are up to 10 metres deep. The warriors strip off, descend to form a human chain and chant traditional Samburu songs as they pass water up by hand for the cattle. This mind-blowing ritual goes on for several hours a day
