Porini Lion Camp is set within the exclusive 20,000-acre Olare Orok Conservancy and next to the Ntiakatiak River, home to several hippo pools and abundant birdlife. The camp features ten luxury bush tents with en suite facilities, and high quality meals are freshly prepared onsite by the camp chef, and is a real safari experience reminiscent to traditional safari hunting camps. The conservancy borders the the Masai Mara Game Reserve, which boats a fantastic array of wildlife including the big cats that the region is famous for.

Day 1
Catch your 10am flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi. The 50-minute journey takes you to the centre of the Masai Mara Reserve, where you will be met and by your safari guide in an open-sided 4WD vehicle and head off straight on safari. You’ll spend the day discovering the local wildlife, with a picnic lunch, before driving to Porini Lion Camp to arrive at your luxury tent. There is a further afternoon game drive, and then a sundowner drink at a scenic spot. Head back to the camp for a shower and your evening meal.
Day 2
Wake to the sounds of the Mara’s varied birdlife and after early morning tea head straight out on a game drive on the lookout for the Big Five of leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo. Back to Porini Lion Camp for breakfast then a nature walk escorted by local Maasai warriors. After lunch at the camp depart on a game drive in the Olare Orok Conservancy, with a scenic sundowner stop before taking a night-time game drive. Back in the camp you’ll enjoy dinner and a second overnight stay.
Day 3
Join Maasai warriors for an early morning walk in Olare Orok, before returning to camp for breafast and then heading back to the airstrip to catch your return flight to Nairobi, arriving in Kenya’s capital at around 12.15pm.

Access and Distance

  • The best way to reach the camp is by air, with a 45-minute flight from Nairobi, or catching a flight from one of Kenya’s other national parks. The conservancy can also be reached by road, and is 250 kilometres from Nairobi, a journey of approximately four hours.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation is in ten spacious and well-appointed safari-style tents, each featuring a double and a single bed, outdoor seating area, solar-powered lights, en suite facilities with a flushing toilet and safari-style shower and basin.

  • Porini Lion Camp is not suitable for children less than eight years old

  • Guests at Porini Lion Camp take morning, evening and night game drives in the camp’s custom-made 4WD vehicles
